You Give and Take away

Last week, i went to church. Now at this church i was attending, we were singing "Blessed Be your Name" by Matt Redman, the worship leader was talking about this song. Most of the time when this song is being played, i would be listening to the music instead of the lyrics (occupational hazard). Anyway, that day i wasn't playing an instrument, i was in the congregation, and i was listening to the lyrics. It then struck me that this song was actually painting a scenario in which people often go through.

Its like, God i will praise you when the sun's shining down on me. When my life is a bed of roses, when everything is going my way. I'm getting that well paying job, my life is a breeze, Thank you God! But when trouble comes, i would go,"Why lord?? Why must i go through this suffering? How could a Loving God do something like this to me?"

In the bible, it says:

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3

There is a time, a season for everything. Time to weep, time to enjoy, time to laugh... But in all these we must praise God. When we walk through the wilderness, we must bless him. Its not a feeling we have to praise God. Next time you're sad, just force yourself to praise him. I can assure you that you'll feel better.

til next time,
Morris/Weijie

Blessed be your name by Matt Redman

Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name when I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out I'll
turn back to praise
And when the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be"
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Family and friends

hi all, its me again, sitting down to complete another post on my blog. Weighing down on my mind now is the fact that i'm all alone in a strange land. You never really cherish the ones you care about until they are taken away from you. Like me for example, my family, my wife, all my friends are 15000km away back in Singapore. I do miss them. Friends, do spend moment to cherish the ones who are the nearest to you. Go, tell your parents that you love them, or a close friend, or your significant other. The day may come that they will be gone from you, or you have to go somewhere far far away and not be able to see them again.

On another note, can anyone tell me whether the theory about toilet flushes going clockwise in the northern hemisphere and anticlockwise in the southern is true? I propose this experiment. You email me and tell me which direction does your toilet flush and i will tell you mine.. haha.. I haven't been so bored as to take note what direction the flush goes. Heh heh.

til then, Weijie.
