Some people are afraid of technology, afraid that something they do will spoil whatever they are holding. I guess i've done my fair share of breaking technology. I've taken apart many things, most of the time i can't put it back together. But i guess this is where i got my wonder of technology, if you can put it that way. I was always curious about how things worked. Maybe its a guy thing. Now i have quite a few gadgets around me. I was one of the first people to own an ipod, getting my first one when they only had 5 and 10Gb versions.. A PSP, just to fulfil that need of a gaming machine to play with.. it has been with me through many adventures in the bathroom... heh heh..
But now the coolest gadget in the world is the.... iPhone. That one device that sooo many people would love to get their hands on, even paying top dollar for someone to import it to a country that Apple has not released the iPhone to. Tens of thousands of pple around the world own an iPhone, regardless whether it is official, or unofficial..
But me.. poor old me.. i dun get to get one. My Darling wife has mandated that i cannot buy one. And at 500US dollars, i can't blame her... tsk tsk.. It is too expensive, plus, it makes it impossible for you to be away from the internet for long. You can surf the web, talk on the phone, listen to music, all sorts of cool stuff. But as the force beyond my control continually says when i ask, " Do you really need to be so connected?" It is the gear lust! The gear lust has got me! But i realise she is right. Do i really want to be so connected? That you're only an email away? a text message? Its funny that the world is getting more connected, but people are getting more distant from each other. Email, SMSes have replaced the phone call. Even the way frens are made have changed. With Facebook, mySpace.. so happy when you have an friend approval from Facebook. But i digress.
Do i really want an iphone?? You betcha.. But what would i use it for? Nothing.. maybe make an occasional phone call.. the ever so rare text message. I just want one to play with, to say Nah! i have one! To upload my collection of videos so i can watch on the move... To add one to my collection of toys, of which there are never enough. Now, its gadgets.. tens years down the line. Cars?? Then Boats? or even planes? I wonder how many pple are even reading this! hahahahaha..
Anyway. , to end off, heres a clip from one of my favourite comedians/comediennes.. Eddie Izzard about Technojoy! Enjoy...
